HER Theatre Company is a female-focused Los Angeles based theatre company where Carly Pandža serves as the artistic director. The company's intention is to illuminate, encourage, showcase and raise the visibility of underrepresented female artists in the theater community.

The Story of HER

Carly Pandza, the artistic director and founder of HER Theatre Company, has always had a dream of starting her own theatre company. When she co-bought a duplex in East Los Angeles with her hubby, sister and brother in law she envisioned putting on productions in their front and back yard. HER Theatre Company was born in January 2019 after Carly received a text from producer, actress and founding member, Marissa Pistone, that read “Hey, do you want to direct a play?” The rest is HER-story…

2019 Season

Their 1st season begins with their premiere production workshop Theresa Rebeck’s play “Sunday On The Rocks” in June 2019. Their second show in the line-up will be “Swiped”, a musical one-woman solo show based on a young single woman’s struggles in her dating journey in Los Angeles premiering at the Hollywood Fringe Festival at the end of June 2019. Swiped was awarded the Encore Producers Award and offered the opportunity to extend the original run of the production. Swiped accepted this gracious offer and ran until July 2019 at the Hudson Theatre. In November 2019, Swiped was invited by the Modjeska Playhouse in Orange County, CA to perform a weekend run of the original production.

2020 Season

It is with a heavy heart we have halted our slated productions for the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We were originally slated to bring Swiped to Little Fish Theatre in June 2020 and we were planning to premiere a modern day LGBTQ+ retelling of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in the fall. Both of those productions have been put on hold. Key members of HER still meet virtually biweekly as we discuss, plan and reinvent future productions in the Los Angeles theatre scene post-pandemic. HER is hopeful, inspired and revolutionary about the future of theatre and we plan to continue forward with risky, bold and creative choices.
